PacketChess does not collect or transmit any personal information. We have no servers, no databases, and no way to access your data.
PacketChess communicates exclusively over amateur radio using the AX.25 packet protocol. All game data (moves, invitations, chat messages) is transmitted over RF through your radio equipment. No internet connection is used for gameplay.
As with all amateur radio communication, transmissions are unencrypted and may be received by any station on the same frequency. This is consistent with amateur radio regulations, which prohibit encrypted communications.
The following data is stored locally on your device only:
This data never leaves your device except as AX.25 packets transmitted over amateur radio.
PacketChess requests microphone access when using the Software TNC mode. The microphone is used solely to receive and decode AX.25 packet audio from your radio. Audio is processed in real time and is not recorded or stored.
PacketChess requests Bluetooth access to connect to Mobilinkd TNC hardware devices. Bluetooth is used exclusively for KISS TNC communication and is not used for any other purpose.
PacketChess may connect to KISS TNC servers on your local network (e.g., Direwolf). This connection is used exclusively for packet radio communication.
PacketChess offers optional tip jar purchases through Apple's StoreKit framework. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store any payment information.
PacketChess does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
